Australia’s light-duty trucking champion, the Isuzu N Series, has re-entered the ring with a major redesign for 2025—debuting on Day 1 of the Brisbane Truck Show and setting a new benchmark for the segment.

The iconic N Series, Australia’s top-selling light-duty truck range for over three decades, has undergone its most comprehensive refresh yet. With all-new models, powertrains, transmissions, advanced safety features, and cabin upgrades, Isuzu has raised the bar in every direction.

“This range may be light-duty by classification, but it’s heavyweight in impact,” said Ben Lasry, Isuzu Australia Limited’s Director and Chief of Sales and Aftersales. “The N Series remains at the heart of countless Australian businesses, and this MY25 release reinforces that trusted legacy.”

MY25 N Series Overview

GVM 4.5t–5.5t: Engines & Power

Kicking off the line-up are models in the 4,500–5,500 kg GVM range—like the NKR, NLR, NLS, and NMR—powered by Isuzu’s new 4JZ1-TCS engine. Replacing the older 4JJ1, the TCS delivers 110 kW (150 hp) and a broad torque band from 1,280–2,800 rpm.

This engine meets the demanding Japanese pPNLT emissions standard (Euro VI equivalent), thanks to a combined Diesel Particulate Diffuser and SCR/AdBlue system, significantly reducing harmful outputs.

GVM 4.5t–5.5t: Transmission

Paired with the new engine is Isuzu’s MYR9S 9-speed dual-clutch AMT. Featuring a wet clutch, tighter gear spacing, and twin overdrives, it delivers smoother shifts, lower RPM cruising, and greater efficiency—outperforming the outgoing 6-speed MYY-6E in every metric.

Scaling Up: GVM 5.5t–7.5t & 7.5t–8.8t

5.5t–7.5t GVM

The NPR, NNR, and off-road-ready NPS 4x4 get a boost with the 4JZ1-TCH engine, delivering 129 kW (175 hp) and enhanced torque—ideal for demanding roles in construction, emergency services, and local delivery.

This group also benefits from the MYR9S AMT, plus a park pawl for easy urban parking. A manual 5-speed remains available for NPS 4x4 models, favoured by emergency response operators.

7.5t–8.8t GVM

The upper end of the range—the NQR variants—now runs the upgraded 4HK1-TCH engine, putting out 140 kW (190 hp) and up to 2,600 rpm torque. This powerplant is matched with Isuzu’s durable MZZ6 AMT, making it ideal for heavy urban logistics like refrigeration and bulk delivery.

Advanced Safety: Raising the Bar Again

Every 4x2 N Series model now includes the next-gen ADAS safety suite, built around a stereo camera and short-range radar combo. This tech upgrade adds seven new active systems, including:

  • Attention Alert System (AAS)
  • Intersection AEB
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA)
  • Miss Acceleration Mitigation (MAM)
  • Intelligent Speed Limiter (ISL)

These join standard passive protections like dual airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, an ECE-R29 certified cab, and reinforced side intrusion bars.

Next-Level Cabin Comfort

From the outside, the N Series gets a sharper look with redesigned bumpers, Bi-LED lighting, and DRLs. Inside, the story continues with a fully refreshed driver environment:

  • Ergonomic new seating and steering wheel with integrated controls
  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Electric park brake
  • Improved climate control
  • More intuitive storage and layout

The MY25 interior blends utility with a car-like feel, delivering a superior in-cab experience for long-haul or stop-start urban work.
