Solo Resources Expands Fleet with 50 New IVECO Trucks Across Diverse Contracts
Longstanding partners Solo Resources and IVECO have joined forces once again, with the delivery of 50 new vehicles to support several new waste management contracts across Australia. The delivery includes ACCO, S-Way, and Eurocargo models—each chosen for their fit-for-purpose design in different applications.

While most of the new units are factory-fitted ACCO 6x4 dual control trucks fitted with Solo’s own compactor bodies, other additions include:
- Two S-Way 6x4 550 AS prime movers for bulk haulage with hydraulic walking floor trailers
- One S-Way 550 8x4 hooklift for skip work with a dog trailer
- Two Eurocargo ML160s with rear-loading compactors, ideal for tight areas like Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula
Solo Resources’ National Fleet Manager, Mark Taylor, reflected on the decades-long collaboration:
“Solo Resources has been manufacturing refuse collection bodies from our Tweed Heads site since the late 1930s... We began building on the ACCO platform when the model was first developed and we’ve manufactured on every generation of the truck since.”

“We work closely with IVECO when we design a new body and the engineering and field support they provide us is strong – it’s a close relationship.”
The new trucks will operate under contracts across South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and soon Western Australia. The ACCOs are equipped with Euro 6 (Step E) 310HP engines and Allison 3200 automatic transmissions, well-suited to the stop-start nature of waste collection.
“As well as giving us the driveline we need, the ACCO is very manoeuvrable and the newer trucks also offer good driver comfort and safety features,” Mark said.

“And as a body builder, we find the chassis to be ‘fit-for-purpose’ – the balance is good, giving us the weight distribution we need to achieve maximum payloads.”
An added benefit for Solo is the inclusion of IVECO On Telematics, standard with a 12-month subscription. It allows for fuel use tracking, diagnostics, maintenance reporting and more.
“IVECO On is particularly useful for monitoring areas such as fuel use and other operating data covering scheduled maintenance reporting, alerts and diagnostics,” Mark noted.
“It has broader driver monitoring capabilities as well, but given the start and stop nature of our work, there’s less need for us to use this.”
This latest delivery brings Solo’s total to over 200 new IVECO trucks added in the past three years—supporting both fleet renewals and expansion into new contracts. Most vehicles are maintained in-house at Solo’s facilities nationwide.
