Carroll Group Australia Appoints New Chief Operating Officer
Sydney, Australia – September 2025 – Carroll Group Australia has strengthened its executive leadership team with the appointment of Barry Thompson as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately.
Thompson brings more than 25 years of transport and logistics experience, including senior leadership positions at Kings Transport and earlier roles at Linfox. Known for his ability to mentor executive teams, drive operational performance, and deliver measurable results across both private and public sectors, Thompson is set to play a pivotal role in guiding Carroll Group’s next phase of growth.
Carroll Group Managing Director Troy Carroll said the appointment comes at a critical time for the business.
“It’s very good for us,” Carroll said.
“As a company we’ve been growing so quickly over the last couple of years, at 30 per cent or even more every year. With that type of continual growth, we want to make sure our processes and our people are growing with the company so that our customer service is still second-to-none.”
Supporting Carroll Group’s Next Growth Phase
Carroll added that the company’s rapid trajectory meant it was the right time to bring in additional executive expertise.
“Bringing those layers of management – that C suite in – is important. Some people have questioned why I’m doing it given our size. But it’s not about what I’m looking at now, it’s what I want it to be. As we proceed to push to that next level, I want to make sure our customers and partners are getting looked after on the way through.”
Thompson’s Vision for the Role
Thompson said joining Carroll Group was an easy decision, citing the company’s strong reputation and people-first culture.
“Carroll Group is an organisation led and run by passionate individuals who are driven to continually improve on delivering excellent solutions to their customers,” he said.
“We service our clients in sometimes very challenging supply chains operating in some of Australia’s harshest conditions and we do it reliably and safely earning our customers acknowledgement and praise.”
Thompson said his focus will be on enhancing Carroll Group’s functional capability, strengthening customer satisfaction, and guiding the business toward sustainable expansion.
“Going forward we aim to target further growth with our existing clients and expand our service offering to a broader market,” he said.
“I bring considerable operational experience from my years in larger scale domestic and multi-national organisations and am excited for our journey ahead.”
CFO Appointment Strengthens Executive Team
Thompson’s appointment follows the recent addition of Tim Schneider as Carroll Group’s new Chief Financial Officer. Schneider has previously held finance leadership roles at Asahi, Lion and Toll Group, including serving as Financial Transformation Manager.
Carroll said the addition of both leaders will help shape the future of the business.
“When we say we’re going to do something we want to ensure that we do it right every time,” Carroll said.
“Barry and Tim bring a wealth of experience to our business — a business we want to be truly generational so that my daughters can one day take it over and it becomes something a lot bigger than perhaps what we all initially envisioned.”
