With the demanding needs of Australian tradespeople in mind, Australia’s newest light truck brand, DFAC Trucks, has partnered with leading aluminium truck body manufacturer MW Manufacturing to supply the Alloy Tray for the all-new Captain 45 WorkReady model.

Developed specifically for the Australian market, the WorkReady Alloy Tray was designed in collaboration with DFAC Trucks Australia, with support from the DFAC factory in Xiangyang. The tray has undergone extensive evaluation, incorporating feedback from Australian dealers, operational specialists and local customers.

Key features of the Australian-designed and assembled WorkReady Alloy Tray include ladder racks, a wash station, a strengthened headboard featuring the DFAC logo and a uniformly distributed three-tonne load rating. This includes a 200kg capacity across all three ladder racks.

The WorkReady Alloy Tray is also backed by the same 7-year/250,000km warranty as the Captain 45 chassis.

The car-licence 4.5-tonne DFAC Captain 45 has launched in Australia with the WorkReady package, including the Alloy Tray, available for an introductory $59,990 drive-away.

“The DFAC models being brought into the country have been fully developed for Australian conditions and local customer needs; including the Alloy Tray through our partnership with MW Manufacturing,” said Business and Network Development Manager for DFAC Trucks Australia, Nathan James.

“DFAC Truck Australia insisted on working with local experts in the field of bodies and accessories, and with MW’s shared enthusiasm we have brought to market a package that benefits customer operations.”

Established in 1999, MW Manufacturing produces more than 100,000 products annually, with three factories and two workshops across Australia, as well as dedicated steel and aluminium manufacturing facilities in China.

“Working with such a large OEM like DFAC Truck has brought out the best in our team at MW Toolbox,” said Tao Zhang from MW Manufacturing.

“Our manufacturing process and delivery of the traybacks will ensure trucks will not be sitting idle waiting on bodybuilds.

“The enthusiasm in this partnership has seen us collectively develop the trayback with end users benefiting from a fully integrated truck.”

DFAC’s range of standard vehicle features were also considered throughout the design and fitment of the Alloy Tray.

“This Alloy Tray has been fully designed for the Captain 45 to ensure not only the best in operational requirements demanded by customers, but also works in conjunction with all safety systems of the vehicle,” said Mr James.

“In the 18 month design and evaluation process our team worked closely with MW on the initial design.

“Collectively we insisted on further input from key stakeholders and then applied those combined learnings for the final version that we have available on the WorkReady Alloy Tray.

“With a tray space of 4.5m x 2m it really is part of the DFAC way of bringing to market a smart option for operators.”

Powering the DFAC Captain 45 is a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel Cummins engine producing 121kW and 400Nm of maximum torque.

The Captain 45 can be driven on a car licence, with a 4.5-tonne GVM, upgraded to 6 tonnes with an LR licence. Its 3300mm wheelbase places it in a popular segment for owner-operators and fleet customers alike.

The Captain 45 also offers a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, providing tradespeople and fleet operators with added versatility across a range of applications.

Standard safety and technology features include driver and passenger airbags, a high-resolution reverse camera, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, smartphone mirroring, a multifunction steering wheel, LCD instrument panel and a large 13-inch infotainment screen.
