Hino Australia has announced further updates to its Euro 6-compliant range of Hino 300 Series diesel trucks, delivering increased torque, improved towing capacity and a higher Gross Combined Mass (GCM).

“These are important steps to further increase the appeal of the 300 Series to our customers across all light-duty applications,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager of Product Strategy for Hino Australia.

Increased GCM and Towing Capacity

Speaking at the Australian drive program for the 300 Series on the Gold Coast, Mr Petrovski highlighted the benefits of the range’s six-speed true automatic transmission.

The combination of Hino’s automatic transmission and increased engine torque from the Euro 6 Hino N04C engine enables a minimum 3.5-tonne towing capacity across the range, with a GCM of up to 11,500kg on selected 300 Series diesel models.

For operators driving the car-licence 616 Standard or Wide Cab models, which have a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4,499kg, this provides a towing capacity of 3,500kg and a GCM of 7,999kg.

The 300 Series 716, with a 6.5-tonne GVM, now offers a GCM of 10 tonnes, while the 300 Series 816 models with an 8-tonne GVM deliver a GCM of 11.5 tonnes.

The six-speed true automatic transmission works with the Hino N04C four-litre diesel engine to deliver 440Nm of torque without interruption between gear changes. This combination provides power and efficiency for a range of applications, including urban deliveries, trades and regional freight.

Hino Expands Its Built to Go Truck Range

Hino Australia is also preparing to expand its Built to Go range of drive-away trucks, which currently includes various tray and tipper models.

Following customer and dealer feedback, Hino is finalising several 300 Series prototypes, including steel tray and van bodies developed with Australian body-building partner Alltruck Bodies.

In 2027, the Built to Go range across Hino's 300 Series light-duty, 500 Series medium-duty and 700 Series heavy-duty trucks is expected to expand to cover additional applications and industries.

Hino 300 Series Safety and Driver Comfort

All Hino 300 Series trucks are designed with driver, passenger and road-user safety in mind.

The standard Hino SmartSafe safety package includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Detection (PD) and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).

Additional safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), a reverse camera, dual SRS airbags, four-wheel disc brakes and a cab certified to UN ECE R29 crash-test strength requirements.

The automatic transmission also features a sequential shifter, allowing drivers to manually select gears or use automatic drive mode to simplify operation and help reduce driver fatigue.

The 300 Series now features LED headlamps and fog lamps to improve visibility in varying light and weather conditions.

Inside the cab, drivers benefit from an ergonomically designed environment featuring a fully adjustable driver's seat, tilt- and telescopically adjustable steering wheel, accessible controls, a centralised speedometer and tachometer, and a 4.2-inch TFT LCD Multi Information Display.

The cabin also includes a 10.1-inch ultra-high-definition multimedia unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Hino Advantage: Warranty, Servicing and Support

Hino 300 Series customers also benefit from Hino Advantage, a customer support program designed to maximise business uptime.

The program includes a five-year or 250,000-kilometre standard warranty, whichever comes first, five years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing using Hino Genuine Parts.

Customers can also explore finance options through Hino Financial Services, which specialises in the needs of truck and transport businesses.

Hino Genuine Accessories are purpose-built for Hino trucks and backed by a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.
