The refreshed IVECO Eurocargo series has arrived in Australia, delivering added active safety systems, upgraded Telematics, improved driver comfort features and modern driving aids, along with strengthened drivelines aimed at boosting operator efficiency.
The updated range spans five core variants – ML140, ML160 and ML180 – plus the ML150 4x4 and ML150 4x2 dual cab, which seats seven including the driver. IVECO is also offering a new ‘Tipper Pack’ for the ML140, introducing a 4185mm wheelbase, increased 22t GCM, reinforced parabolic suspension at both ends, rear diff lock and ‘easy clean’ cabin trim – elements well suited to tipping work.
The 4x2 line-up is offered with two transmission choices and three cabin styles plus multiple wheelbase options. GVM options include 14, 15, 16 and 18t, with GCM ratings from 17.5t to 28t depending on the model and gearbox, giving users extra payload flexibility for freight, materials or equipment.

Updated Tector 7 powertrains

The latest trucks feature stronger versions of the ‘Tector 7’ engines, which were previously only optional on older models. These advanced 6-cylinder engines use high-pressure common-rail injection and 24 valves, producing 207kW (280hp) and 1,000Nm for the ML140, and 235kW (320hp) and 1,100Nm for ML150, ML160 and ML180 models. All engines meet Euro6 (Step E) emissions via HI-SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction).
Paired to the engines in the 4x2 range is either the standard ZF 8-speed automatic or an optional Allison 6-speed auto for high-torque, low-speed work. Power is transferred via Meritor axles featuring standard cross locks on ML150 (4x2) Dual Cab, ML160 and ML180, and optional on ML140.
Front suspension across all 4x2 models (excluding Tipper Spec) uses parabolic springs with dual-action hydraulic shocks and a stabiliser bar, while the ML140 runs a two-bellow rear airbag system with dual-action shocks. The ML150 Dual Cab, ML160 and ML180 use a four-bellow configuration for enhanced ride quality and freight protection.

Fuel-efficient technology upgrades

The new Eurocargo brings several of the fuel-saving technologies seen in the S-Way heavy-duty series, lowering running and ownership costs.
A new idle cut-off system now switches off the engine after five minutes at idle when conditions allow. Models fitted with ZF transmissions also add ‘Eco Roll’, which uses vehicle momentum to save fuel – under suitable conditions Eco Roll shifts the driveline into neutral to reduce drag torque and let the truck coast.
A separate ‘Eco Mode’ – available with both automatics – adjusts power delivery and shift mapping to a fuel-optimised setting that improves economy and reduces emissions.

Expanded safety features

The new Eurocargo moves ahead significantly in both active and passive safety, with standard features including Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Hill Holder, Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), rear Reversing System (REV) with camera, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) – where tail lamps pulse under heavy braking – Driver Drowsiness and Alert Warning (DDAW) and Moving Off Information System (MOIS). AEBS, ESP and ACC are not offered on the 4x4 model.
DDAW monitors steering inputs and lane position above 55 km/h on straight roads, issuing audible and visual alerts if drowsiness is detected.
MOIS is especially beneficial in busy metropolitan environments, giving visual and audible alerts of vulnerable road users across three detection zones depicted in a ‘bird’s-eye’ view.
BSIS watches the truck’s side and front-side areas, warning of vulnerable road users who may be at risk during passenger-side turns.
Other standard equipment includes an ECE R29-compliant cab, vented disc brakes all round with ABS and ESP (ESP 4x2 only), LED Daytime Running Lamps and LED tail lamps. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is also optional.

Bold new styling – exterior and interior

The Eurocargo’s exterior styling is sharper and more modern, adopting cues from the IVECO S-Way and T-Way ranges. A revised front fascia incorporates updated IVECO badging, a swept grille and newly integrated bumper sensors.
Inside, enhancements are immediately noticeable.
Drivers are greeted by a new steering wheel, 10” configurable digital instrument cluster and updated controls. The steering wheel includes integrated controls, a ‘start/stop’ button and electric proximity key, with a soft-touch finish standard and leather available as an option. The redesigned column provides better adjustment and easier cabin access, while gear selection is now via convenient column-mounted stalks.
Seating is handled by a fully adjustable ISRI air-suspended seat, with an optional ‘Hi-Comfort’ ISRI seat offering belt-height, shoulder/backrest and ventilation climate control options.
A new 7” multimedia system adds Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and ‘IVECO On’ telematics readiness.

IVECO On telematics – smarter connected fleets

Previously exclusive to S-Way and ACCO, IVECO On telematics now uses data from the Eurocargo’s onboard unit to analyse driving style and provide regular reports to help reduce operating costs and improve safety. Reports include fuel consumption and driving style insights, allowing tailored changes for better economy. The system can also deliver real-time driving tips for on-route efficiency.
Safety is further supported through alerts on harsh braking, rapid acceleration and other behaviours. Detailed downloadable reports assist fleet managers in identifying improvement areas.
IVECO On also helps reduce downtime with proactive maintenance monitoring. It tracks vehicle data including odometer, service scheduling and dashboard alerts for battery voltage, coolant, engine oil and transmission fluid.
Remote diagnostic support, teleservices and over-the-air updates are available through the IVECO Customer Uptime Centre.

Rugged ML150 4x4

Renowned for demanding emergency, mining, exploration and forestry work, the ML150 4x4 receives the same model-wide upgrades as its 4x2 siblings.
It uses the same Tector 7 engine as the ML160 and ML180, producing 235kW (320hp) and 1,100Nm, matched here to a 6-speed manual. Emissions are controlled via Selective Catalytic Reduction.
With a 15t GVM, 19t GCM and wheelbase options of 3915 and 4150mm, the ML150 4x4 is built for harsh off-road environments. Front, centre and rear diff locks maximise traction in mud and slippery terrain, while parabolic three-leaf front and two-plus-two rear suspension provide excellent articulation. A 26° approach angle, 28° ramp angle and steel bumper further enhance tough-terrain capability.
Despite its rugged credentials, the ML150 4x4 includes the same safety and comfort updates as the 4x2 models, ensuring drivers remain comfortable and alert during long and challenging shifts.

Insights from IVECO Trucks Australia Managing Director, Glen Dyer

“The new Eurocargo offers higher levels of comfort, safety and lower emissions, benefits that are underrepresented in the medium duty truck market.
Eurocargo provides a perfect blend of productivity and low total cost of ownership, matched with the cabin amenities and appointments that drivers who spend long hours behind the wheel will appreciate.
It’s these characteristics that continually see Eurocargo top the sales charts in Europe, and we believe the latest generation trucks will strike a chord with Australian and New Zealand buyers.”
IVECO’s new Eurocargo range is on sale now with a 5-Year / 300,000km warranty (whichever comes first) across all variants. Extended coverage up to 5-Years / 600,000km is available at additional cost, along with maintenance and repair contracts that help owners plan their long-term fleet servicing expenses.
