Transforming a one-person towing service into a successful 15-truck fleet doesn’t happen overnight—but through years of grit, family support, and the right equipment, VIP Towing & Transport has done exactly that.

Founder Adrian Frangiosa launched the Melbourne-based business back in 2012 with a single truck. Today, it’s a growing family-run operation that provides critical transport solutions for the construction sector—moving everything from compact machinery and forklifts to oversized excavators and demountable buildings.

Backed by a solid team—including wife Teresa in the office and son Lucas behind the wheel part-time—Adrian’s philosophy is clear: focus on prompt, reliable service and let word-of-mouth do the rest.

“We’ve built the business from the ground up with consistent service and hard work,” said Adrian.
“It’s now grown into a dual-division operation—heavy haulage on one side and tilt tray work for lighter gear on the other.”

The Right Trucks for the Task

At the heart of this growing fleet is a dependable line-up of Isuzu trucks. Recent additions include:

  • FRD 110-260 Auto
  • Two FVY 240-300 Autos
  • An NLR 45-150 Traypack from the Ready-to-Work range

These units join an already well-established stable of Isuzu models, including an FRR 110-260 Auto, an FYJ 300-350, and multiple prime movers.

The two FVY models (one with a flat top, one with a tilt tray) play a key role in transporting bulky site equipment and materials across metro Melbourne. Thanks to their 24,000 kg GVM and powerful 6HK1-TCS engines producing 300PS and 981 Nm of torque, these trucks offer the muscle required to get heavy jobs done safely and efficiently.

Paired with Allison 3500 six-speed autos and Hendrickson air suspension, these trucks also make life easier for VIP’s drivers when navigating complex sites or busy roads.

“We’ve stuck with Isuzu because they’ve proven themselves,” Adrian said.
“They’re easy to drive, cost-effective to run, and just keep going.”

Built for Versatility

When it comes to tighter sites and smaller tasks, Adrian turns to the FRD 110-260 Auto, which offers a smaller footprint while still packing a punch thanks to its six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.

Meanwhile, the nimble NLR Traypack is on call for fast-moving deliveries and short hauls. Its 4,500 kg GVM and 8,000 kg GCM make it a perfect fit for drivers with standard licences—without compromising on performance.

“That Traypack is a great support truck—it’s always moving something from A to B at short notice,” Adrian noted.

Keeping the Fleet Future-Ready

Each of VIP’s vehicles clocks up around 65,000 kilometres per year, and Adrian makes it a priority to keep them in top condition. With driver wellbeing and reliability front of mind, trucks are typically rotated out of service after 7–8 years.

The transition to automatic transmissions is also nearly complete, helping to reduce fatigue and attract new drivers in a competitive labour market.

Servicing is handled by Geelong Isuzu, a long-term partner who Adrian says is instrumental in keeping the fleet moving.

“Their service team really knows their stuff—and that peace of mind matters,” he said.
“Regular maintenance keeps us safe and within warranty, and that reliability is everything in our business.”

With demand on the rise, Adrian plans to add two new trucks annually and sees Geelong Isuzu continuing to play a pivotal role.

“They’ve been outstanding—from truck deliveries to ongoing support. I recommend them all the time.”

As Isuzu prepares to roll out an updated model range focused on advanced safety and driver comfort, Adrian’s growing operation looks well-placed for what’s next.
