As Australia’s cities grow skyward, waste collection is facing mounting pressure to adapt. Enter Isuzu’s newest compact contender — the narrow-bodied NKR 65/45-150, designed specifically for navigating the tightest corners of high-density areas.

Unveiled at the Brisbane Truck Show and set to make a splash at this year’s ReGen Expo (formerly AWRE) at Sydney ICC, the NKR is Isuzu’s answer to growing urban access challenges.

With a roof height under 2 metres and width of just 1,695 mm, this “City Slicker” squeezes into underground carparks, laneways and loading docks where standard trucks dare not tread. A tight 11.5m turning circle further cements its street smarts.

The NKR is available in six models (GVM from 4,500–6,500 kg) with 4,000 kg towing capacity, powered by Isuzu’s advanced 3.0L 4JZ1-TCS engine, paired with either a 9-speed dual-clutch automated or 6-speed manual transmission.

Its adaptable cab chassis makes it perfect for custom waste bodies, aligning with initiatives like the Federal Government’s Kerbside Collections Roadmap, which is pushing councils to find smarter ways to manage recycling in constrained environments.

From improved safety tech like Intersection Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control, to its car-like interior for driver comfort, the NKR is engineered for dense urban zones.
